Genus Arenidesulfomonas [A.re.ni.de.sul.fo.mo'nas] L. fem. n. arena, sand; N.L. pref. desulfo-, desulfuricating, here referring to sulfate reduction; L. fem. n. monas, a single unit; N.L. fem. n. Arenidesulfomonas, sulfate reducer occurring in sands
The genus Arenidesulfomonas is defined based on its nomenclatural type Arenidesulfomonas baltica that is represented by a MAG from sandy sediments in the Baltic Sea involved in sulfate reduction.
Arenidesulfomonadaceae Arenidesulfomonas balticaTs seqco.de/i:56281
Species Arenidesulfomonas balticaTs [bal.ti'ca] N.L. fem. adj. baltica, pertaining to the Baltic Sea or Baltic region
The MAG of Arenidesulfomonas baltica was reconstructed from sediment metagenomes from the Odra Bank in the Baltic Sea (salinity 5-8 psu). Metatranscriptomic analyses showed that Arenidesulfomonas baltica plays a crucial role in sulfate reduction in the sandy sediments at this location.
