- Description

We amend the description of the family Pelagibacteraceae to encompass historical subclades Ia and Ib of the SAR11 bacterial lineage. Previously, the family Pelagibacteraceae was described to encompass the entire SAR11 lineage (Thrash et al. 2011). The type genus remains Pelagibacter.
