Cells are Gram stain-negative, strictly aerobic, rod-shaped, 1.2–2.5 μm in length and 0.5–0.8 μm in width and motile. The colonies on R2A agar are non-pigmented, white and moist after 3 days of incubation at 30 °C. Grow on R2A, but not on LB medium. Growth occurs at 15–30 °C (optimum 30 °C), at pH 5.0–8.0 (optimum 7.0), and with 0–2.0% (w/v) NaCl (optimum 1.0%). Positive for nitrite reduction and hydrolysis of aesculin, alkaline phosphatase, esterase (C4), esterase lipase (C8), acid phosphatase, naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase and α-glucosidase. The major polar lipids are PME, DPG, PG, PC and PE. The predominant cellular fatty acids are C19:0 cyclo ω8c and C18: 1ω7c. The major quinone was ubiquinone Q-10. The G+C content is 63.3 mol%.
