The quality of the MAG was determined by inspection of the long-read-based (PacBio HiFi) chromosome-level assembly with over 100X coverage. The assembly is composed of a complete linear chromosome (one 9.6 Mb scaffold) with a placed but unresolved two copies 70kb repeat (the two remaining scaffolds). This assembly is corroborated by multiple, independent short-read reconstruction of MAGs from the same species. We note that traditional single-copy universal maker genes report high contamination levels (>10%) but these represent biological signal, as shown with the order-wide duplication of these genes (see https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-022-04862-3/figures/10).
