Algichlamydia (Al.gi’chla.my’dia. L. fem. n. alga, alga or seaweed; N.L. fem. n. Chlamydia, taxonomic name of a bacterial genus; Algichlamydia referring to chlamydiae infecting algae). The genus Algichlamydia represents a distinct, deep-branching lineage within the Simkaniaceae family.
