ABSTRACT Protozoa play host for many intracellular bacteria and are important for the adaptation of pathogenic bacteria to eukaryotic cells. We analyzed the genome sequence of “ Candidatus Amoebophilus asiaticus,” an obligate intracellular amoeba symbiont belonging to the Bacteroidetes .
