The HMW genomic DNA of Paenibacillus rostockiensis PK1-4R was used for library preparation by either Illumina sequencing (short reads) using Illumina Tagment DNA Enzyme and Buffer Small Kit (Illumina, USA) in MiSeq sequencing system in 600 cycles, or by PacBio sequencing (long reads) on SMRTbellTM template library according to the instructions from Pacific Biosciences (Menlo Park, CA, USA). The PacBio checklist and procedure was based on the preparation of multiplexed microbial libraries by use of SMRTbell® Express Template Prep Kit 2.0. The sequencing was done on the SequelIIe (Pacific Biosciences, Menlo Park, CA, USA) taking a 15 h movie. After genome assembly, the contigs were automatically annotated via Prokka and the closest type strain genomes were determined by comparing the obtained genome against all type-strain genomes available in the type-strain genome server (TYGS) database via the MinHash Approximation for short-read sequencing algorithm of the 16S rDNA gene sequences.
