Toponym
Geo Loc Name: USA: Oklahoma
Environment
Isolation Source: Contaminated sediments from an oil refinery in Oklahoma, USA (Nales et al., 1998; Bioremediat J 2). The site was described as being from a saturated, highly anaerobic zone that had been chronically exposed to hydrocarbons. Cultures have been maintained in anaerobic minimal medium ever since, and fed with benzene as their sole carbon and energy source.
Env Broad Scale: Groundwater aquifer [ENVO:00012408]
Env Local Scale: Oil-contaminated soil [ENVO:00002875], Aquifer [ENVO:00012408]
Env Medium: Oil-contaminated soil [ENVO:00002875], Anaerobic sediment [ENVO:00002045], Groundwater [ENVO:01001004]
