Description

Göker, 2022: The description is as given for ‘Streptomycetales’ (Rainey et al. 1997) Kämpfer 2012. The order contains the set union of the genera placed into the families Streptomycetaceae Waksman and Henrici 1943 (Approved Lists 1980), Allostreptomycetaceae Salam et al. 2020 and Carbonactinosporaceae Volpiano et al. 2021. The number of contained families may vary with taxonomic opinion but such deviations would not by themselves affect the boundaries of the order. The type genus is Kitasatospora corrig. Ōmura et al. 1983.
