Taxonomy

Description
Based on 16S rRNA gene sequence identity, the closest relatives are members of the genus Hungatella (Hungatella effluvii, 95.15%; Hungatella hathewayi, 94.95%). POCP analysis against H. effluvii (40.38%) and H. hathewayi (39.86%) indicates that strain CLA-AP-H27 represents a distinct genus to Hungatella. GTDB-Tk supported the creation of a novel genus, placing strain CLA-AP-H27 within the proposed genus of “Candidatus Ventrimonas” in the family Lachnospiraceae. The type species of this genus is Ventrimonas faecis.
