Description

The type species of this family is Izemoplasma acidinucleici capable of degrading and metabolizing nucleic acids. Comparative genomics indicated that diverse Izemoplasmataceae encode multiple (up to five) predicted extracellular nucleases and are probably specialized DNA-degraders.
