Danish n. Hjordkaer, Danish city; N.L. fem. n. Hjordkaeriella, Microbe named after the Danish city of Hjordkaer, near which the genome of the type species was recovered.

Description

Genus established on the basis of phylogenomic comparisons to GTDB R226 and 16S rRNA classifications to Silva 138.2. Formerly known as genus UBA11358 in GTDB R226, and genus UBA7542 in GTDB R220. The description of the genus is the same as for its type species Hjordkaeriella lacustris.
