Draft Genome Sequence of “ Candidatus Moanabacter tarae,” Representing a Novel Marine Verrucomicrobial Lineage

Citation
Vosseberg et al. (2018). Microbiology Resource Announcements 7 (15)
Names
Ca. Moanabacter tarae
Abstract
The Tara Oceans Consortium has published various metagenomes of marine environmental samples. Here, we report a contig of 2.6 Mbp from the assembly of a sample collected near the Marquesas Islands in the Pacific Ocean, covering a nearly complete novel verrucomicrobial genome.

“Candidatus Nitrosotenuis aquarius,” an Ammonia-Oxidizing Archaeon from a Freshwater Aquarium Biofilter

Citation
Sauder et al. (2018). Applied and Environmental Microbiology 84 (19)
Names
Ca. Nitrosotenuis aquarius
Abstract
Nitrification is a critical process for preventing ammonia toxicity in engineered biofilter environments. This work describes the cultivation and complete genome sequence of a novel AOA representative enriched from a freshwater aquarium biofilter. In addition, despite the common belief in the aquarium industry that AOB mediate ammonia oxidation, the present study suggests an in situ role for “ Ca . Nitrosotenuis aquarius”-like AOA in f

Infection by Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum’ haplotypes A and B in Solanum lycopersicum ‘Moneymaker’

Citation
Mendoza-Herrera et al. (2018). Plant Disease 102 (10)
Names
“Liberibacter solanacearum”
Abstract
‘Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum’ is a plant pathogen associated with diseases affecting several crops of the Solanaceae and Apiaceae families. Two ‘Ca. L. solanacearum’ haplotypes (LsoA and LsoB) infect solanaceous crops in North America and are transmitted by the tomato psyllid Bactericera cockerelli. Although both ‘Ca. L. solanacearum’ haplotypes cause zebra chip in potato, the diseases associated with each haplotype in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) have not been described. ‘Ca. L. sola
