Taxonomy

Description
Cells are cocci, 0.2–0.5μm in diameter, and occur singly or attached to cell surface of its hosts. It grows under the aerobic conditions and thrives in moderately thermophilic and acidic environments. Obligate symbiotic. DNA G+C content of the type species is 24.9mol% (determined from the genome sequence). Inhabits in terrestrial acidic hot springs.
The type species is Nanobdella aerobiophila.
