Taxonomy

Description
A species of Fervidibacter found in soils heated by volcanic activity (65 degree C) on Mt. Erebus in Antarctica. Metabolism is predicted to be typical of Fervidibacter, a globally distributed genus of thermophilic polysaccharide degraders.

Submitter comments
The organism represented by this MAG is abundant in the geothermally heated soils at Tramway Ridge, Mt. Erebus. Metagenome data (SRR6519254). It was assembled using SPAdes (--cov-cutoff auto --careful -k 25,55,65,75). Although coverage was determined across four SRA accessions representing two physical samples, this MAG was produced using only kmer composition in Metabat1, which was determined to be the best version according to dRep. CheckM1 and checkM2 were run on the MAG and the reported statistics are from checkM1. tRNAs were identified and counted using PGAP through NCBI at the time of submission.
