Taxonomy

Description
Thrash and Coates, 2010: The phylum currently contains two classes, three orders, three families, and six described genera. The phylum is identified on the basis of phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences.

Oren and Garrity, 2021: The properties of the taxon are as described by Thrash and Coates, 2010. Correction of the effectively published homonym Acidobacteria Thrash and Coates 2010; it is a later synonym of Acidobacteria Cavalier-Smith 2002, which is on the list of rejected names. Type genus: Acidobacterium Kishimoto et al. 1991.
