Molecular detection of ‘Candidatus phytoplasma aurantifolia’ associated with virescence and phyllody of Zinnia peruviana: A new record for India

Citation

Abstract
AbstractZinnia peruviana (Asteraceae) is an annual flowering plant cultivated in various gardens of Mysore, the south of Karnataka state, India. During 2021, phytoplasma‐like symptoms such as virescence and phyllody were observed on Zinnia in Mysore local gardens. A total of 10 symptomatic and five asymptomatic samples were collected, and the DNA was amplified by PCR using primers specific to 16S RNA and secA genes. The nucleotide sequence analysis showed that the 16S RNA and SecA gene sequences

Phylogenomic discernments into Anaerolineaceae thermal adaptations and the proposal of a candidate genus Mesolinea

Citation
Bedoya-Urrego, Alzate (2024). Frontiers in Microbiology 15
Names
“Mesolinea colombiensis”
Abstract
This study delves into the evolutionary history of Anaerolineaceae, a diverse bacterial family within the Chloroflexota phylum. Employing a multi-faceted approach, including phylogenetic analyses, genomic comparisons, and exploration of adaptive features, the research unveils novel insights into the family’s taxonomy and evolutionary dynamics. The investigation employs metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs), emphasizing their prevalence in anaerobic environments. Notably, a novel mesophilic lineage

Pentastiridius leporinus as a Vector of Phloem Restricted Pathogens on Potato: ‘Candidatus Arsenophonus Phytopathogenicus’ and ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma solani’

Abstract
In Germany, the phloem sucking planthopper Pentastiridius leporinus (Hemiptera: Cixiidae) currently represents the epidemiological driver for the spread of the syndrome “Basses Richesses” in sugar beet, which results in a reduced sugar content and an economic loss for the farmers. This disease is associated with the γ-proteobacterium ‘Candidatus Arsenophonus phytopathogenicus’ and the Stolbur phytoplasma ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma solani’. Recently, P. leporinus was found in potato fields in German

Distribuição de Diaphorina citri (Hemiptera: Liviidae) e detecção de Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus em regiões citrícolas do Paraná

Citation

Abstract

Genome Sequence Analysis of Native Xenorhabdus Strains Isolated from Entomopathogenic Nematodes in Argentina

Citation

Abstract
Entomopathogenic nematodes from the genus Steinernema (Nematoda: Steinernematidae) are capable of causing the rapid killing of insect hosts, facilitated by their association with symbiotic Gram-negative bacteria in the genus Xenorhabdus (Enterobacterales: Morganellaceae), positioning them as interesting candidate tools for the control of insect pests. In spite of this, only a limited number of species from this bacterial genus have been identified from their nematode hosts and their insecticidal
