Abstract
ABSTRACT The Chichon volcano contains several thermal manifestations including an acidic crater lake. Here we report a metagenome-assembled genome of “ Candidatus Aramenus sp. CH1,” a Sulfolobales archaeon inhabiting the crater lake from the Chichon volcano. In this study, we generated a novel Aramenus genome sequence from a thermal area in Southern Mexico.

Metagenome Assembly and Metagenome-Assembled Genome of “ Candidatus Aramenus sulfurataquae” from Thermal Sediments from the Los Azufres Volcanic Complex

Abstract
A plethora of hot springs are found at the Los Azufres volcanic complex in Mexico, and studies are needed to determine their microbial genomic diversity. Here, we report a metagenome of hot spring sediments and a metagenome-assembled genome of “ Candidatus Aramenus sulfurataquae.” This study reveals novel genomic sequences of Sulfolobales archaea.

Abstract
ABSTRACT The Sulfolobales archaea have been found inhabiting acidic hot springs all over the world. Here, we report the 1.798-Mbp draft genome sequence of the thermoacidophilic Sulfolobales archaeon AZ1, reconstructed from the metagenome of a Mexican hot spring. Sequence-based comparisons revealed that the Sulfolobales archaeon AZ1 represents a novel candidate genus.
