Taxonomy

Description
Cells are Gram-staining-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped, and motile. Colonies were generally circular, off-white to cream in color, with smooth and entire margins. They exhibited slightly raised to convex elevation, moist to butyrous consistency, and an opaque appearance. The average colony size was approximately 0.5–0.6 cm after incubation under the specified growth conditions. Growth occurs at 20-40 °C (optimum, 35 °C), pH 5-12 (optimum, pH 9), and in the presence of up to 3% (w/v) NaCl. Strain RAC2ᵀ can utilize lactose, xylose, fructose, dextrose, sucrose, and malonate as carbon sources but not galactose. The major cellular fatty acids are iso-C15:0 (24.56%), anteiso-C15:0 (14.27%), and summed feature 3 (16:1 ω7c/16:1 ω6c; 11.18%). The nomenclatural type, RAC2ᵀ (=MCM-B-1506), was isolated from the hemolymph of infected Bombyx mori L. collected from the sericultural field of Raiganj University, West Bengal, India. The genome of the nomenclatural type is characterized by a size of 4.6 Mbp and the genomic G + C content of 66.5%.
