Bactericera maculipennis (Hemiptera: Triozidae) is a vector of “ Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum” to species within the Convolvulaceae (Solanales)

Citation

Names
“Liberibacter solanacearum”
Abstract
Abstract Bactericera maculipennis (Crawford) and Bactericera cockerelli (Šulc) (Hemiptera: Triozidae) share hosts within the Solanaceae and Convolvulaceae (Solanales), and both are associated with “Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum” (Lso). Lso, transmitted by B. cockerelli, causes diseases in solanaceous crops including zebra chip disease of potato. Up to 50% of B. maculipennis adults also harbor Lso, but transmission of Lso to plants by this psyllid has not been confirmed y

First detection of ‘ Candidatus Phytoplasma trifolii’ in pistachio trees in Türkiye: A new and emerging threat

Citation
Çaplık et al. (2025). EPPO Bulletin 55 (3)
Names
Ca. Phytoplasma trifolii
Abstract
Abstract Pistachio ( Pistacia vera L.) is a vital crop for Türkiye's economy, occupying over 420 000 ha, primarily in south‐eastern Anatolia. In 2023, severe symptoms, such as curling, chlorosis and needle‐like leaf deformation, were observed on pistachio trees in Şanlıurfa Province. This prompted a molecular study of phytoplasma pathogens. A real‐time PCR targeting the 16Sr

Metabolic Potential of <scp> Candidatus </scp> Saccharimonadia Including Rare Lineages in Activated Sludge

Citation
Kagemasa et al. (2025). Environmental Microbiology Reports 17 (6)
Names
“Saccharimonadia”
Abstract
ABSTRACT Candidatus Saccharimonadia is a class‐level lineage of ultrasmall bacteria within the phylum Minisyncoccota (formerly Candidate Phyla Radiation or Ca . Patescibacteria), commonly found in activated sludge processes treating municipal wastewater. In this study, we aimed to elucidate the metabolic potential of Ca

First report of a ‘ Candidatus Phytoplasma asteris’-related strain (16SrI-B) associated with fruit phyllody of mulberry in Taiwan

Citation
Wu et al. (2025). Plant Disease
Names
Ca. Phytoplasma asteris
Abstract
Mulberries (Morus spp.) are important crops valued for berry and silk production (Baciu et al., 2023). In March 2025, a mulberry tree in Dongshi, Taichung, Taiwan, was found bearing fruits showing phyllody symptoms. To determine whether the disease was associated with phytoplasma infection, symptomatic fruits were collected from five branches and tested. For the controls, asymptomatic berries were sampled from three symptomless mulberry trees in Wufeng, Taichung in April 2025. DNA was extracted

‘Candidatus Peptacetobacter felis’ sp. nov., a novel bile acid-converting bacterial species isolated from the feces of healthy cats in the United States

Citation
Dione et al. (2025).
Names
Ca. Peptacetobacter felis
Abstract
ABSTRACT Six strains of a novel anaerobic bacterial taxa exhibiting bile acid-transforming activity were isolated from fecal samples of clinically healthy cats living in Oakland, California. 16S rRNA sequencing and phylogenetic analysis indicate that strain AB800 T belongs to the genus Peptacetobacter , with Peptacetobacter hiranonis

Transcriptomic detection of Candidatus Allocryptoplasma (Anaplasmataceae) in Galápagos marine iguanas (Amblyrhynchus cristatus, Iguanidae)

Citation

Abstract
Abstract Background Globally, the disease ecology of reptiles remains understudied, even for threatened and iconic species such as the Galápagos marine iguana ( Amblyrhynchus cristatus ). Although marine iguanas are parasitized by distinct species of ticks and mites, research on vector-borne diseases for this species is limited.

Abstract
Abstract The DPANN superphylum is a deep-branching radiation of Archaea with small cell and genome sizes. Most DPANN lineages are predicted or validated to be host-dependent. However, certain lineages have substantial biosynthetic capacities and are potentially less dependent on hosts or even free-living. Here, we reconstructed 163 Micrarchaeota genomes, comprising 48 assigned to previously undescribed orders and 115 affiliated with known orders. Investigation of their genetic
