Abstract
AbstractPear decline, induced by the phytoplasma 'Candidatus Phytoplasma pyri', transmitted by pear psyllids, is one of the most devastating diseases on Pyrus communis in Europe and North America. Investigations of pear psyllids in 4 pear orchards in lower Austria showed the presence of Cacopsylla pyri, C. pyricola and C. pyrisuga at all locations. PCR analyses revealed overall phytoplasma infection rates for C. pyri of 5.4%, for C. pyricola, of 4.6%, for C. pyrisuga remigrants of 9.6% and for C

In Silico Three-Dimensional (3D) Modeling of the SecY Protein of ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma Solani’ Strains Associated with Grapevine “Bois Noir” and Its Possible Relationship with Strain Virulence

Citation
Pierro et al. (2022). International Journal of Plant Biology 13 (2)
Names
Ca. Phytoplasma solani
Abstract
Grapevine “bois noir”, related to the presence of ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma solani’ (‘Ca. P. solani’), represents a serious threat in several vine-growing areas worldwide. In surveys conducted over two years, mild and/or moderate symptoms and lower pathogen titer were mainly associated with ‘Ca. P. solani’ strains harboring a secY gene sequence variant (secY52), whereas severe symptoms and higher titer were mainly observed in grapevines infected by phytoplasma strains carrying any one of another f

Association between Temperature and Reproductive Fitness of Diaphorina citri Infected with Candidatus Liberibacter Asiaticus

Abstract
Diaphorina citri is a serious insect pest of citrus and an insect vector of Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas) that causes Huanglongbing disease (citrus greening). In this study, we investigated the effect of the CLas pathogen on the life history parameters of D. citri at different temperature regimes. Our results demonstrated that the survival rate of first to fifth instar CLas-positive and CLas-negative D. citri fluctuate with the change in temperature over the range of 16–35 °C. Meanwhi

Genetic Diversity of Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus Based on Four Hypervariable Genomic Regions in China

Citation
zhang et al. (2022).
Names
Ca. Liberibacter asiaticus
Abstract
Huanglongbing (HLB; greening disease), caused by Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas), is the most damaging citrus disease worldwide. The disease has spread throughout the citrus-producing regions of Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, and others in China. A total of 1,789 HLB-like symptomatic or asymptomatic samples were collected from the Guangxi and Fujian provinces of China to decipher the genetic diversity of CLas and its correlation with pathogenicity and host range. The disease was the most s

The “Other” Rickettsiales : an Overview of the Family “ Candidatus Midichloriaceae”

“Midichloriaceae” Ca. Midichloriaceae
Abstract
Among endosymbiotic bacterial lineages, few are as intensely studied as Rickettsiales , which include the causative agents of spotted fever, typhus, and anaplasmosis. However, an important subgroup called “ Candidatus Midichloriaceae” receives little attention despite accounting for a third of the diversity of Rickettsiales and harboring a wide range of bacteria with unique features, like the ability to infect m
