Abstract
Citrus huanglongbing (HLB), previously called greening, is a serious citrus disease in Asia, eastern and southern Africa. It is caused by Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (Las), a phloem‐limited, nonculturable bacterium transmitted by the Asian citrus psyllid ( Diaphorina citri ) in Asia. A PCR‐based assay was developed for monitoring Las in vector psyllids using a rapid DNA extraction from psyl

Association of ‘ Candidatus Phytoplasma australiense’ with green petal and lethal yellows diseases in strawberry

Abstract
The identity of phytoplasmas detected in strawberry plants with green petal (SGP) and lethal yellows (SLY) diseases was determined by RFLP analysis of the 16S rRNA gene and adjacent spacer region (SR). RFLP and sequence comparisons indicated that the phytoplasmas associated with SGP and SLY were indistinguishable and were most closely related to ‘ Candidatus Phytoplasma australiense’, the phytoplasma associated with Australian grapevin
