Oren, Garrity, 2021 proposed an alternative spelling for this name as "Acidulidesulfobacter diazotrophicus" (sic) due to a confusion between the names Acididesulfobacter (of which this species is part) and Acidulidesulfobacterium (= "Acidulodesulfobacterium"; proposed in the same effective publication but distinct).
