Genome Sequence of “Candidatus Aquiluna” sp. Strain IMCC13023, a Marine Member of the Actinobacteria Isolated from an Arctic Fjord

Citation
Kang et al. (2012). Journal of Bacteriology 194 (13)
Names
Aquiluna “Aquiluna rubra”
Abstract
ABSTRACT We report the genome sequence of actinobacterial strain IMCC13023, isolated from arctic fjord seawater. Phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA gene showed that the strain is related to “ Candidatus Aquiluna rubra.” The genome information suggests that strain IMCC13023 is a photoheterotroph carrying actinorhodopsin, with the smallest genome ever reported for a free-living member of the Actinobacteria .

Draft Genome Sequence of “Candidatus Hamiltonella defensa,” an Endosymbiont of the Whitefly Bemisia tabaci

Citation
Rao et al. (2012). Journal of Bacteriology 194 (13)
Names
Ca. Hamiltonella defensa
Abstract
ABSTRACT “ Candidatus Hamiltonella defensa” is a facultative endosymbiont of the whitefly Bemisia tabaci . Herein, we report the first draft genome sequence of “ Candidatus Hamiltonella defensa” from the invasive Mediterranean cryptic species of the B. tabaci complex. The 1.84-Mbp genome sequence comprises 404 contigs and contains 1,806 predicted protein-coding genes.

Genome Sequence of “ Candidatus Nitrosopumilus salaria” BD31, an Ammonia-Oxidizing Archaeon from the San Francisco Bay Estuary

Citation
Mosier et al. (2012). Journal of Bacteriology 194 (8)
Names
Ca. Nitrosopumilus salaria
Abstract
ABSTRACT Ammonia-oxidizing archaea (AOA) play important roles in nitrogen and carbon cycling in marine and terrestrial ecosystems. Here, we present the draft genome sequence for the ammonia-oxidizing archaeon “ Candidatus Nitrosopumilus salaria” BD31, which was enriched in culture from sediments of the San Francisco Bay estuary. The genome sequences revealed many similarities to the genome of Nitrosopumilus maritimus .

Genome Sequence of “ Candidatus Nitrosoarchaeum limnia” BG20, a Low-Salinity Ammonia-Oxidizing Archaeon from the San Francisco Bay Estuary

Citation
Mosier et al. (2012). Journal of Bacteriology 194 (8)
Names
Ca. Nitrosoarchaeum limnia
Abstract
ABSTRACT Here, we present the draft genome sequence of “ Candidatus Nitrosoarchaeum limnia” BG20, an ammonia-oxidizing archaeon enriched in culture from low-salinity sediments of the San Francisco Bay estuary. The genome sequence revealed many similarities to the previously sequenced genome of “ Ca. Nitrosoarchaeum limnia” SFB1 (enriched from a nearby site in San Francisco Bay) and is representative of a clade of ammonia-oxid

Genome Sequence for “Candidatus Mycoplasma haemominutum,” a Low-Pathogenicity Hemoplasma Species

Citation
Barker et al. (2012). Journal of Bacteriology 194 (4)
Names
Ca. Mycoplasma haemominutum
Abstract
ABSTRACT We present the genome sequence of “ Candidatus Mycoplasma haemominutum” strain Birmingham 1, a low-pathogenicity feline hemoplasma strain.

Ultrastructure of the Denitrifying Methanotroph “Candidatus Methylomirabilis oxyfera,” a Novel Polygon-Shaped Bacterium

Citation
Wu et al. (2012). Journal of Bacteriology 194 (2)
Names
Methylomirabilis oxygeniifera Ts
Abstract
ABSTRACT “ Candidatus Methylomirabilis oxyfera” is a newly discovered denitrifying methanotroph that is unrelated to previously known methanotrophs. This bacterium is a member of the NC10 phylum and couples methane oxidation to denitrification through a newly discovered intra-aerobic pathway. In the present study, we report the first ultrastructural study of “ Ca . Methylomirabilis oxyfera” using scanning electron microscopy,

Genome Sequence of “Candidatus Frankia datiscae” Dg1, the Uncultured Microsymbiont from Nitrogen-Fixing Root Nodules of the Dicot Datisca glomerata

Citation
Persson et al. (2011). Journal of Bacteriology 193 (24)
Names
Ca. Frankia datiscae
Abstract
ABSTRACT Members of the noncultured clade of Frankia enter into root nodule symbioses with actinorhizal species from the orders Cucurbitales and Rosales. We report the genome sequence of a member of this clade originally from Pakistan but obtained from root nodules of the American plant Datisca glomerata without isolation in culture.

Complete Genome Sequence of “Candidatus Tremblaya princeps” Strain PCVAL, an Intriguing Translational Machine below the Living-Cell Status

Citation
Lopez-Madrigal et al. (2011). Journal of Bacteriology 193 (19)
Names
Ca. Tremblaya princeps
Abstract
ABSTRACT The sequence of the genome of “ Candidatus Tremblaya princeps” strain PCVAL, the primary endosymbiont of the citrus mealybug Planococcus citri , has been determined. “ Ca . Tremblaya princeps” presents an unusual nested endosymbiosis and harbors a gammaproteobacterial symbiont within its cytoplasm in all analyzed mealybugs. The genome sequence reveals that “ Ca . Ca. Nitrosoarchaeum koreensis
Abstract
ABSTRACT Ammonia-oxidizing archaea are ubiquitous microorganisms which play important roles in global nitrogen and carbon cycle on earth. Here we present the high-quality draft genome sequence of an ammonia-oxidizing archaeon, “ Candidatus Nitrosopumilus koreensis” MY1, that dominated an enrichment culture of a soil sample from the rhizosphere. Its genome contains genes for survival in the rhizosphere environment as well as those for carbon fixation
