‘Candidatus Liberibacter africanus’ is associated with citrus greening (huanglongbing [HLB]) in South Africa. Various unpublished reports have suggested that the related bacterium ‘Ca. L. asiaticus’ associated with HLB in citrus might be seed transmissible based on real-time PCR results.
