Abstract
A novel sulphur-reducing bacterium was isolated from a pyrite-forming enrichment culture inoculated with sewage sludge from a wastewater treatment plant. Based on phylogenetic data, strain J.5.4.2-T.3.5.2T could be affiliated with the phylum Synergistota . Among type strains of species with validly published names, the highest 16S rRNA gene sequence identity value was found with

Novel diversity of polar Cyanobacteria revealed by genome-resolved metagenomics

Abstract
AbstractBenthic microbial mats dominated by Cyanobacteria are important features of polar lakes. Although culture-independent studies have provided important insights into their diversity, only a handful of genomes of polar Cyanobacteria have been sequenced to date. Here, we applied a genome-resolved metagenomics approach to data obtained from Arctic, sub-Antarctic, and Antarctic microbial mats. We recovered 22 unique metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) of Cyanobacteria, most of which are only d

Abstract
Cyanobacterial taxonomy is facing a period of rapid changes thanks to the ease of 16S rRNA gene sequencing and established workflows for description of new taxa. Since the last comprehensive review of the cyanobacterial system in 2014 until 2021, at least 273 species in 140 genera were newly described. These taxa were mainly placed into previously defined orders and families although several new families were proposed. However, the classification of most taxa still relied on hierarchical relatio

Control of Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus vector with plant extracts and biorational products in Mexican lime

Abstract
In Mexico, Huanglongbing HLB has become endemic in all Mexican lime producing areas. This disease is transmitted by the insect Diaphorina citri (Hemiptera: Liviidae). The objective of the study was to evaluate different plant extracts and biorational products for the control of D. citri in mexican lime. Two evaluations were made under field conditions; the first one included five treatments, with previous sampling and at 8, 20 and 27 days after the application of the treatments. In the second, e

Genetic diversity of Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus strains from the Central Pacific citrus region in Mexico

Abstract
Huanglongbing (HLB) is associated with Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas). It is a destructive disease of citrus. The objective of this study was to determine the genetic diversity of 90 strains of CLas infecting eight citrus species trees from the Central Pacific in Mexico. Genetic diversity among CLas was estimated by fourteen variable numbers of tandem repeat (VNTRs) loci. Three loci were polymorphic, SSR00 and SSR077 amplified four alleles each, while the locus SSR-A amplified two alle
